News recently broke that the city of Louisville, Kentucky reached a settlement for the wrongful death lawsuit filed by the family of 26-year-old EMT, Breonna Taylor who was fatally shot and killed by police six months ago. Sources indicate that this is a multi-million dollar deal that also includes police reform.
According to CNN, Taylor's family sued the city after Louisville Metro Police officers, who reportedly were not wearing body cams, broke down the door to her apartment on March 13 and shot Taylor while performing a "no-knock" warrant in conjunction with a narcotics investigation.
She was unarmed during the shooting and there were no drugs found in her home.
Unfortunately to date, none of the three officers involved in the raid have been charged with a crime-- although one of the officers, Brett Hankinson, was fired in June for allegedly firing 10 rounds into her apartment, based on a report written by the interim Louisville Police Chief Robert Schroeder during that time.

Investigation is ongoing, however, the city has been reportedly criticized for its delayed response to the incident. Although charges are still pending, the news of this settlement is a step in the right direction.
